Kittens Found Dumped In A Box

The RSPCA is appealing for information after four kittens were found abandoned in a box in Oxford.

The tiny animals, thought to be aged between eight and 10 weeks old, were found behind a block of flats at the junction of Barns Road and Kersington Crescent in Cowley.  A member of the public found the kittens in a cardboard box on Monday evening (7 September), but it is thought they had been there since Sunday.

The kittens, two black and white and two tabby-coloured, are all healthy and are now eating well.  RSPCA inspector Doug Davidson is caring for them until they are transferred to the care of the Oxfordshire branch of the RSPCA.

Inspector Davidson said:  “Luckily these kittens were OK but had they not been found they could have suffered dehydration and starvation or fallen victim to predators.

“Some pet owners just refuse to take responsibility for their animals.  If only they would neuter their cats, the numbers of unwanted kittens would reduce and there would be far fewer incidents like this.”

Anyone who feels they cannot cope with their pet should contact the RSPCA or another welfare organisation for help.  There is also help available towards the cost of neutering for those on low incomes.  Please visit www.rspca.org.uk for more information.

Those with information about this incident should contact the RSPCA in confidence on 0300 1234 999.
