We all know that cats love lounging in the sun, but please be aware if you have a white or white-marked cat during the height of the summer.
Lucky here is a sad example of the problems that can occur. While she came to us as a stray, she had a cancerous tumor on her ear caused by overexposure to the sun's UV rays. The cancerous tissue has been removed, but her new owner will need to ensure that Lucky has sun-screen applied to her ears in the future. If you have a white cat, or a cat with white-markings, do be aware of where they like to lounge, and apply sun-screen if necessary to prevent them getting sunburned - if the sun is too strong for you, it will be too strong for your cat.
