If you can, ensure any animals you leave behind have a plentiful supply of water and, if you can, give them some extra food.

* Make sure cats can get out of the house.
* Try and take dogs with you when you leave.
* Leave behind rabbits, guinea pigs and other small animals kept in hutches.
* If you can, take small animals and birds in cages with you.
* Leave exotic animals behind.
* Leave fish behind.
* Leave horses and other large animals behind.

Note: If you have been evacuated and left an animal behind, please advise us of the exact location of the animal and we will attempt to provide it with food and water.

If you have been evacuated and you have an animal with you, make your way to the nearest rest centre where there will be facilities to help you.
