What to do if you have lost an animalLost dog: Before you do anything else, report your loss to the local authority dog warden. If you believe your dog has been stolen, report it to the police and ask for a crime reference number. With your permission we will put your lost animal on the national online lost and found register www.nationalpetregister.org. This is a secure site since all contact will be mediated through us. But please report it to us too - most owners would prefer to know what has happened to their pet. Found dog: First, you should check to see if the dog is wearing any form of identification that will enable you to return him directly to his owner. Otherwise you should contact your local authority to arrange for the dog warden to collect the dog. How to contact a dog warden. Found cat: First, if the cat is approachable, download our paper collar (instructions included) and place it on the cat. If in 24 hours the owner has not contacted you, or if the cat is not approachable, here is what else you can do.
